Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson is president and owner of Bob Johnson Insurance, Inc. and joined the agency in 1988. He is a graduate of Halls High School and the University of Tennessee. In addition to serving on several different non-profit boards over the years, Ben and his family are actively involved at Calvary Chapel in Knoxville. He loves spending time with his family, doing triathlons, playing golf and doing yardwork (not for hire – his own yard only!).
Nate Bergey
Nate Bergey joined the agency in 2023. He is married and has a growing family. He has had a desire to serve others from a young age and is able to fulfill that desire helping the customers of Bob Johnson Insurance. Nate’s family has a heart for global missions and serving their local church, Manley Baptist Church in Morristown. They also enjoy evening walks, playing sports, working around the house, Friday night movie nights and just being together.
Laney Daugherty
Laney joined Bob Johnson Insurance in April of 2025. Laney is newly married to her husband, Caleb. They currently attend Clear Springs Baptist Church in Corryton together with Laney’s family. She is currently a Customer Service Representative and can’t wait to serve you and your needs. Laney has a passion for helping people and can’t wait to serve others during her time here at BJI.
Mark Durfee
Mark Durfee joined the Agency in 1996 and stayed for about 10 years before becoming a full-time financial advisor. Mark S. Durfee is a licensed investment professional who offers strategies and quality customer service to his client base. Mark has lived in Knox County for over 53 years and has been in the financial services industry for over 33 years. Mark has been married to his wife Susan for over 30 years and is a father of 3 and grandfather of 2. Mark values his family as an extremely important part of his life and enjoys traveling and creating memories with them. He enjoys reading James Patterson books, worshiping at Hope Church in Powell, collecting NFL football cards, and watching NFL games.
David Jenkins
David has been in the insurance industry since 2001. David joined our agency in March of 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he received his BA in Psychology. David is licensed in personal lines as well as life insurance. David and his wife Stephanie have 4 children. They are members of Sevier Heights Baptist Church.
Tyler Ladd
Tyler has been a Knoxville resident his entire life and joined the agency in March of 2010. He is a graduate from the University of Tennessee where he received his BA in Communication Studies. Tyler's primary focus in the agency is to serve ministry based organizations. He is an active member of Shoreline Church and is a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee . Tyler and his wife, Lauren, have been married since 2010 and have a son and daughter.
Jacob Lindsey
Jacob Lindsey is an account executive at Bob Johnson Insurance and joined the agency in 2024. He graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2019 and taught high school English for three years before entering the insurance world, starting as a Leave Specialist at Unum in 2022 before joining BJI. He is also the worship leader of his church, Mill Springs Baptist Church, where his father is the senior pastor. Jacob enjoys watching movies with his wife and his daughter, cheering on the TN Vols, and beating Ian Naudé at board games (especially Monopoly).
Tammy McKenzie
Tammy McKenzie serves as Finance Manager / Human Resources and Notary at Bob Johnson Insurance and joined the agency in 2023. She is a longtime resident of Knoxville, and is a graduate of Halls High School, Roane State and Kennedy Western University. Tammy and her husband, David, have been married since 1989 and have one grown son. She and her husband are longtime members of Washington Pike United Methodist Church. In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time with family, reading, playing games, and DIY projects.
Ian Naudé
Ian Naudé is an insurance agent at Bob Johnson Insurance and joined the agency in 2021. His passion for serving the church is a product of his upbringing on the mission field and his attendance at Liberty University, where he graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Religion. Ian and his wife Lydia have two young children, a daughter and a son. They are members of Manley Baptist Church in Morristown. Ian enjoys spending time with his family, DIY projects, board games (not Monopoly!), watching movies, and beating Jacob in tennis.
Chris Stewart
Since beginning a career in insurance in January 2020, he has dedicated himself to serving clients through Personal Lines and commercial prospecting for churches and ministries. A graduate of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, he moved to Knoxville in 2005 to be near family and has since established deep roots in the community alongside his wife and their three children. His faith is central to his life, and he currently serves as a worship leader and Chairman of the Trustee Board at his local church. Whether he is helping a family protect their assets or serving the Lord through music as a guitarist and vocalist, his goal is to lead with a servant’s heart.
Rhoda Whaley
Rhoda Whaley joined Bob Johnson Insurance, Inc in April 1986. She is a licensed insurance agent. She and her husband are Halls High School graduates and lifelong residents of the Halls Community in Knoxville. They have one son and a precious daughter -in- law. Rhoda is a Tennessee Vols fan (Go Vols) and a cat lover!
